So I didn't get accepted for the photography show.
*sigh*
Oh, well.
It is really probably because I am really not a photographer. I am merely someone who lugs her camera around and snaps pictures. I have been telling myself for years now to take a photography class to learn f-stops, apertures, etc......but alas, I have never done it.
I plan on going to the show to see what they accepted and hopefully it will give me an idea of what my pictures are lacking.
BUT.....on the bright side, now I have two of my favorite photos already framed and matted, so they are ready to pop right on my walls!
Silver linings, people.....you gotta look for them.

For what it's worth, I HAVE had a photography class, and spent 3 semesters as an art studio major before switching to biology, and I thought your photos were excellent. You win some, you lose some. Also, art is SO subjective. With different judges, or even the same judges on a different day, you might have won.
But whatever, you got some new art to hang, so like you said, silver lining!
I still think that photos are lovely, Amber! :-D

As I said in another comment on a different post, I like your photo's. I've wanted to start doing this as well. I took photography in high school but that's as far as that went.

Amber! You must know that the best don't always get chosen. Maybe the assholes who got in knew someone. Maybe they sucked a little dick on the side to get in. Maybe. Your shit was good enough for the art show.. but for whatever reason, you still didn't get in.

I've been telling myself the same since I got my DSLR- need to take a class. I've looked stuff up online, but I swear it just never sticks in my head. Always confused! haha.
I just got a new camera and I want to take a photography class. I just kind of wing it and hope they don't suck. :(
Darn! I'm sorry you didn't get in. But, congratulations on making the effort. It does take courage to even take that step to submit. Now you're ahead of the game for the next time.
I bet you will discover that the art show chose photos that were taken closer to home. I look forward to hearing what you find out when you visit the show.
Keep it up...it is enough that you enjoy the process.

I've been trying to get into a photography class at my JC these last two semesters, and they're always full as soon as they open the class. It's so lame!
